Devacurl Changed The Way I Travel

Over the past four years, I have been hiding my curls from the world while traveling through Europe, North America, and even Africa. On almost every trip I have been on, I’ve ensured that my hair is straightened or curled (with my straightening iron) so it is ‘easier’ to travel with and I could avoid the detangling pain. The times that I have traveled with my natural hair, my hair starts out as curls, then turns into mini dreads and inevitably ends up as a nest, because I constantly twist it up into a bun. If you are a fellow curlfriend, you know the struggle - this is when my journey with Devecurl started.

Mural Tour through Mexico City

The walls speak in the historical center of Cuidad de Mexico (CDMX). They tell a story of struggle, rebirth, and creativity. Ubish and Ninelth from the experience company, Mexico Underground, really helped me to experience this story and understand where the art is coming from.

As we walked, we saw the transformation of Street Art. We saw its origins in the simple tags, and graffiti vandalism, and then, a few blocks further, we saw it transform into beautiful street art commissioned by the city. The commissioned murals tell a story of the neighborhood and of Mexico’s history.

Express Tourism: 12 hours in San Francisco

In 12 hours I ate In-N-Out Burger for the first time, saw the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, visited two Fairmont Hotels, rode on the streetcar that Harvey Milk rode on, rode on all three historic cable cars that are left in San Francisco, met amazing San Franciscans and also the cutest couple, had a Buddha Beer (I took a bottle home as a souvenir) and got a great cardio work out by walking the iconic hills of San Fran. I seriously cannot wait to go back!

Discovering Monterey, California

I got in a day early to check out the city and I felt completely out of place! Let me explain. I checked into the hotel, set my things down, got ready, and went to town. At first glance, Monterey seemed quaint and cute. There are many historical buildings (it was the original capital of the state of California) on the main road and many restaurants aswell! I started to feel chilly but I didn’t let that bother me too much. What was a little eerie is that it felt like I was the only person out and about! I barely saw anybody outside!
