Airbnb Experiences are one of my favourite ways to experience something new and local when I am travelling! As we have slowly come out of lockdown in Windsor, Ontario, I was excited to have been invited to experience the only Airbnb experience in Windsor, Ontario -- ‘Roasting Experience at 14th Coffee Co’! If you’re a coffee lover you too would recommend this experience to your friends -- I was captivated by the ambiance, the roasting experience, and the coffee! Keep reading below for a full review.

Ambiance

From the moment I arrived on the grounds of 14th Coffee Co there was a complete feeling of peace. The roasting experience is hosted in a small brown building on a ~2 acre lot that has a wonderful breeze running through the whole property, with the silliest chickens running around and a really cool barn featuring an Airstream in front of it! As soon as I stepped in the little red door, I was welcomed with the smell of coffee and the Coffee Roaster, Nathan’s greeting which instantly made me feel right at home. The inside of the coffee house has a rustic barn aesthetic that makes me want to sit into the comfy orange chair in the corner and enjoy a nice cup of coffee while working on my laptop!

The roasting experience

Nathan, the house Coffee Roaster is filled with coffee knowledge and experience that left me in awe! I had so many questions about the roasting experience! He walked through the different beans that were being roasted and how those beans react (in taste) with the different beans to make the blends. I also learned that the event description does not lie! You get to see green coffee beans go into the roaster and then watch them pour out onto a full bed of coffee beans with different shades of espresso brown! It’s truly a mesmerizing experience. The smell of the hot coffee beans after they’re roasted fills the air and adds to the ambiance of the experience!

Coffee

As soon as you walk in you want to enjoy a coffee beverage because the smell is captivating. I was able to have my coffee drink of choice, an Affogato, to carry me through the experience. If you haven’t tried an affogato before, I highly recommend it because it’s so tasty! It is a scoop of ice cream with a shot of espresso poured over it turning into this beautiful caramel coloured beverage. Anthony selected their cold brew and he shared that he was awake after drinking it!

As part of the experience you’re able to choose any coffee drink of your choice like lattes, cappuccino, pour overs, americanos, cold brew and more! Comment below what drink you ended up trying during your experience!

My drink of choice: Affogato!

I didn’t get to try the blend that was made that day because it was a new blend Nathan was working on and it had to sit, but had a chance to try another blend that was roasted a couple days prior! I think the best part about the experience is that you can purchase the roast if you wanted to recreate the coffee house aromas at home and the nice gift with some additional blends and some extra goodies to take home!
